Resolution

Where can I obtain T4 or Relevé 1 forms?

  • Order T4 forms from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
  • Order Relevé 1 forms from Revenue Québec

Which Relevé 1 print formats can I use?

  • If you use pre-printed forms, Laser printer format prints Relevé 1 data only
  • If you use 8.5” x 11” blank paper, Plain paper format prints both the Relevé 1 data and the Relevé 1 form
  • You can provide paper copies to your employees, but can’t submit them to Revenue Québec

Which T4 formats can I use?

  • If you use pre-printed T4 forms, Laser printer format prints the T4 data only
  • If you use blank paper, Plain paper format prints both the T4 data and the T4 form

Is there a limit to the number of times I can print T4s?

You can print T4 slips as many times as you need to.

When do I close the year?

You never close the year. As you cross the calendar year boundary, continue processing payrolls as usual. Payrolls with period end dates in the new year will process in that year.

After you complete year-end procedures, and back up your data, you can run Delete Inactive Records to remove terminated employees and other obsolete information.

Can I produce T4s for last year after processing payrolls for Jan 1 and later?

Yes. When you process the T4s, enter the prior year as the Payment Year.
