Add or change a long part description field to forms

Summary

To accommodate long part descriptions, an additional 1000-character field is available in Maintain Parts in Sage BusinessWorks.

Resolution

The long part description field is below the three existing description fields and is available in the following form templates.
  • Inventory Control: Purchase Order LongDesc
  • Order Entry: Any form with "LongDesc" in the form name. These include credit memo, invoice, packing list, pick ticket, quote, and sales order forms

Change the description on an existing form

  1. Go to Utilities, Maintain IC/OE Forms.
  2. Select the customized form currently in use.
  3. In the detail section, select *Alignment Test*.
  4. In the toolbar, click the arrows (>>) in the field between DBPipeline and Font name.
  5. From the list, select.
    • Line Item: Description All Block: prints three lines of description plus the long description.
    • Line Item: Description Block: prints only the three lines of description.
    • Line Item: Description Line 1, Description Line 2, or Description Line 3: select any combination of the three description line.
  6. Save the form.

Add the long description to a form created in an older version

  1. Go to Utilities, Maintain IC/OE Forms.
  2. Click the DBMemo button, and select either of the following.
    • Line item: Long Description Block: prints the long or extended description lines.
    • Line item: Description All Block: prints description lines 1, 2, 3, and the long description.
