Restore a database

Summary

Sage Timeslips lets you restore backed-up databases from the server or a local file. You can overwrite the current database or restore to a new location.

Resolution

Start the restore process

  1. Open Sage Timeslips.
  2. Click File, Restore.
  3. In Select a backup file to restore, choose the appropriate option.

Select the backup source

Choose the option that matches the backup location.

  • Restore a backup from the server: Use this option when the backup resides in the server’s Timeslips Backup location.
  • Restore a backup from a local file: Use this option when the backup resides on a workstation or outside the server backup path.

Choose the restore location

In Choose where to restore the backup file, select one of the following options.

  • Current database: Overwrites existing data.

    CAUTION:

    This option causes data loss if you don’t need an overwrite.

  • Choose a new location: Restores the database separately.

    • Restore locally for single-machine use.
    • Restore to the network Timeslips Database location to share with all workstations.
    • Enter a database name manually or use the three-dot selector.
      • The three-dot selector shows existing database names. Selecting this helps avoid duplicates, and allows adding a comment to the restored database.

Complete the restore to make the database available.
