Enable and manage Audit Trails

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Sage Timeslips Audit Trails track changes made to key records in the database. You can activate auditing, review changes, and print detailed audit reports for review.

Resolution

Activate the Audit Trail

  1. Click Setup, Features Enabled, Feature List.
  2. Mark the box next to Audit Trails.
  3. Click Setup, Security, Audit Trails.
  4. Mark Activate Audit Trails.
  5. Enter a password to prevent unauthorized settings changes, if needed.

    NOTE:

This password differs from the security supervisor password. Store it securely, since you’ll need it to change audit settings later.

  6. Mark the tables you want Audit Trails to track.

    NOTE:

Slips, A/R Transactions, and Funds Transactions always track activity. These remain enabled when Audit Trails are off. Activating Audit Trails shows retroactive history from database creation unless you purged data.

  7. Click OK to save the changes.

View and maintain Audit Trail data

  1. Click Special, then Audit Trails.
  2. Select filters, such as Timekeeper, Date, and record types.
  3. Use the icons on the right to view, print, or purge audit records.
  4. Click column headings to sort the list.
  5. Click Update to refresh the display.

Print the Audit Trail report

  1. Click Reports, Other, Audit Trails.
  2. Select the required filters.

    TIP:

Use the Table Date filter. This date reflects when Timeslips recorded the transaction, not the transaction’s assigned date.

  3. Limit the date range to one week to avoid record truncation.
  4. Run the report and print it to PDF.
  5. Use Ctrl + F in Adobe Reader to search for keywords or transaction IDs.
