Change the timeout settings for my database

Sage Timeslips controls database disconnections using global timeout settings. Adjusting these values helps manage inactivity during business hours or after‑hours use in Sage Timeslips.

Set database timeout values

1. Click Special, then select Timeslips Administrator.
2. Select Database Timeout.
3. Change Amount of time before database timeout.
4. Set a Database timeout starts at to define when checks begin.
5. Set Database timeout ends at to define when checks stop.
6. Click OK to save the settings.

Emulate a never‑time‑out configuration

Use these values to limit timeout checks to a narrow window.

• Amount of time before database timeout: two Hours
• Database timeout starts at: 1:00 am
• Database timeout ends at: 2:00 am

This configuration checks for two hours of inactivity during a one‑hour window, which prevents normal timeouts.

Configure timeout for after‑hours inactivity

Use these values to disconnect inactive users outside business hours.

• Amount of time before database timeout: 30 Minutes
• Database timeout starts at: 7:00 pm
• Database timeout ends at: 6:00 am

This configuration times out users after 30 minutes of inactivity during evening and overnight hours.
