Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126: The specified module could not be found. (Timberline Data, C:\Program Files (x86)\Timberline Office\Shared\tsSimba.dll)."

Description

The App Store version of Excel can be differentiated from the Standard version by looking at its start menu icon, the Excel Apps icon will have a pale green background, while the standard version will only have the Icon on a transparent background.

Additionally, open the task manager while Excel is running, right click on Excel.exe in the task manager and select open file location. Verify the file path to Excel.exe matches the expected path listed above. If the path is not C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office15 (or Office16), then the version of Excel that is open is likely the Windows App Store version.

Cause

  • The version of 'Click-to-Run" Excel this is opening is the Windows App Store version, which does not recognize TsSimba.dll.
  • Sage has not tested any version of 300CRE with Office 2019 and is not currently a supported version.
    • Microsoft has not yet released a non-Windows App Store version, and will not recognize the TsSimball.dll file to run.

Resolution

For Locally installed version of Office 2016 and below:

  • Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office15 (or Office16, depending on installed version) and create a shortcut to Excel.exe on the desktop.
  • Additionally, update Windows' default programs to open the correct version of Excel by pressing Start, search for Default programs, select "Set defaults by app", then select Excel 2015 (or 2016), and select "Set this program as default".

Office 2019 Windows App:

  • Because Microsoft has not yet released a Desktop application to install locally with the Office 2019 version, please install the 32-bit full version of Office 2016 or Excel 2016 and below.
