Sage HRMS payroll shows a connection error when the system can’t recognize the SQL Server. Sage HRMS requires database connections that reference the SQL Server IP address.
An unknown DNS issue prevents the network from resolving the SQL Server name or instance name.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Uninstall the Sage HRMS client from the affected machine
- Update DBCONNECT to reflect the SQL Server IP Address instead of the Server Name and 'Save' the changes
- Access Sage HRMS Payroll Database Setup
- Update all database connections to use the SQL Server IP Address instead of the SQL Server Name
-
Reinstall the Sage HRMS client using a UNC path that references the application server IP. Example: \\10.123.45.678\SageHRMSServer\
