After upgrading to Sage 100 v2018+ with Payroll 2.x or higher, ACH direct deposit files generated from the new version have contents encrypted with asterisks (******) in certain sections.
Direct deposit register was updated without the correct role setting in place. Due to the enhancements added to Sage 100 2018 and higher to protect the 'personally identifiable information' or PII of employees (as required by law), a new Role setting must be enabled in Payroll and General Ledger before the direct deposit batch is posted/updated.
Deposited Year to Date amount in Employee Maintenance is not updated after updating Direct Deposit Registers

- In Library Master, Main, Role Maintenance select tab 2. Security Events.
- For both General Ledger and Payroll, ensure that the "Allow Viewing, Printing and Editing of Highly Sensitive Personally Identifiable Information" settings are selected.
- If Direct Deposit register was updated without the PII role enabled, then the Direct Deposit entries must be reversed and re-entered with the role enabled. Simply regenerating the ACH file will not be sufficient for resolution as the Direct Deposit transaction file itself will be written with records encrypted if PII role is not enabled.
