For purposes of company tiers SAN companies are tracked using an internal mechanism called a Global Unique Identifier (GUID). This is a unique ID tied to each Sage 50 company data set. Duplicate copies of a Sage 50 company (created when restoring a Sage 50 backup for example) will share the same GUID. Thus, they won't be counted more than once towards the company tier limit. Also, the sample datasets included with all versions of Sage 50 won’t be counted towards the company tier limit.
