Print Spooler service not running
There’s currently a known print spooler vulnerability where IT may inactivate the print spooler to reduce the possibility of hacking. This may also come up as Error 1722.
Note: RPC stands for Remote Procedure Call. It's a used to request a service from another program that may be on another computer or network.
NOTE: This is entirely up to the organization's IT group to work out.
- Identify where the Print Spooler is being used in your network.
- Map your network to find the machined that must use the Print Spooler.
- Disable the Print Spooler on the machines that don't use it.
- For machines that require the Print Spooler, configure them in a way to minimize its attack surface.
In Windows:
- Open Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.
- Find Print Spooler as a service, click to highlight it and click start button.
