How to do a Transfer in Lite Depreciation

Cause

Transfer isn’t an option in the Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation, Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation for Sage 50 and Sage 50 Fixed Assets.

Resolution

In Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation, Sage Fixed Assets Lite Depreciation for Sage 50 or Sage 50 Fixed Assets:

Stop the depreciation on the asset you're transferring:

  1. Run depreciation on the asset to the month before the transfer date.
  2. Print the Main tab of the asset:
    • From the Asset Detail view, click the Print Detail button.
    • Under Print Asset Information: Uncheck all boxes except for Main.
    • Click OK.
  3. Change the Depreciation Method on the Asset to OC in all open books.
  4. Click Yes - Current Thru date on the prompts.
  5. Click Save.

Create a new asset to continue the depreciation in the new location:

  1. Click Add an asset.
  2. When entering the Book information, all Critical Values in all books will be the same as in the original asset.
  3. Enter the Current Thru date into the Beginning Date field.
  4. Leave the Beginning YTD amount at $0.00.
  5. Enter the Current Accumulated amount from the Asset Detail printout into the Beginning Accumulated field.
  6. Click Save.
  7. On the Notes Tab, enter the original and new asset IDs for record keeping.
  8. Optional: Enter another asset with a Negative Acquired Value equal to the Original asset and Depreciation Method of OC. This to allow the Acquired value to tie to older reports.

Close the year, then inactivate the Original Asset and the optional asset from Step 8. This step ensures the Original Asset’s values don't carry into the new year.

  1. Highlight the assets in Asset List View or go to the Asset Detail view of a specific asset.
  2. Go to: Asset, Inactivate.
