Beginning Date is the only option when changing Critical Fields

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

Work around steps to allow changes to critical information on the child of a transferred asset.

Cause

By design, Sage Fixed Assets - Depreciation will prevent modifying the Beginning Information on the Child asset of a transfer transaction. When changing critical values, the only option available on the Select the date on which the critical depreciation change takes effect screen will be Beginning Date. This will be the end of the month before the transfer date.

Resolution

To avoid changes to the current calculations, you must copy and inactivate the child asset.

In Sage Fixed Assets:

  1. From the Asset Detail view of the Child asset, go to: Asset, Replicate.
  2. Enter 1 for the number of times to replicate the asset, click OK, and then click OK.
  3. From the Asset Detail view of the Child asset, go to: Asset, Inactivate, click Yes.
  4. Then go to Asset Detail view of the replicated asset and make the desired changes.
