How to allow programs, ports, or Websites through Windows Firewall/Windows Defender

 CAUTION: This solution requires advanced knowledge of Windows security and network settings. Sage isn't responsible for any issues that arise from changes to these settings. Ensure you back up all system and application databases necessary for a complete restoration. It's advisable to contact a certified consultant or your system administrator for assistance.

Note: To see what programs, ports, or Websites to safelist, consult Files to allow through firewall and antivirus.

To safelist programs:

1. Press the Windows key + R to open a Run line.
2. Type firewall.cpl and press Enter.
3. If all the items in the Allowed programs and features box are gray, click the Change settings button near the top of the window.
   If you are prompted for approval after clicking the button, click Yes and then enter in your PC's administrator credentials, if necessary.
4. Check the feature or program in the list to be allowed through the firewall.
   1. Note: If you don't see what you're looking for, click Allow another program, select the program you want, then click Add
   2. If the program still isn't listed, you will have to browse for the executable directly. Click the Browse button and then click the address bar (the white bar to the right of the forward and back arrows) in the File Explorer window that pops up
   3. Paste in either of the following (the first one will apply to most users)
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\sage\PEACHT~1\Peachw.exe
      • C:\Program Files\sage\PEACHT~1\Peachw.exe
   4. After pasting the path, click the Open button, then click Add
5. Click OK.

To open ports:

1. Press the Windows key + R to open a Run line.
2. Type firewall.cpl and press Enter.
3. Click Advanced Settings and select Inbound Rules. Wait for the list to populate. This may take a few seconds.
4. Right-click Inbound Rules and select New Rule.
5. Select Port --> Next --> Select TCP --> Select Specified local ports. Enter the port number, then click Next.
6. Select Allow the connection --> Next.
7. Check all three boxes - Domain, Private, and Public - then click Next.
8. (Optional) Name the rule and enter a description. The name can be anything you want.
9. Click Finish.

To safelist specific Websites:

1. Press the Windows key + R to open a Run line.
2. Type inetcpl.cpl and press Enter.
3. In the window that pops up, go to the Security tab.
4. Click the Trusted sites icon (it's a green checkmark) and click the Sites button.
5. Type or paste the URL of the Sage webpage you want to safelist. If you want to safelist all Sage Software Webpages, paste the following: *.sage.*
6. Click the Add button.
   Note: If there are multiple people using Windows PCs in your office, it's probable that your network administrator has locked this setting. If this is the case, everything in the Trusted sites window except the Close button will be grayed out. If you still want to change these settings, you will need to ask your network administrator to do it for you.
