The bank reconciliation general ledger balance is incorrect when reconciling two years prior or earlier in Sage BusinessWorks.
Engineering is researching this issue for possible fix in a future release.
How the system calculates the bank reconciliation general ledger balance
- The general ledger balance on the Bank Reconciliation Summary is a calculated figure based on your reconciliation date
- It starts with that month’s beginning balance, adds debits, and subtracts credits to get the total
- If you're reconciling a date two years back or earlier, the beginning balance isn’t included
- In that case, the system calculates only the detailed balance: debits minus credits for that month and year
Manually calculate the balance
- Select GL, Reports, Trial Balance.
- Choose the month and year you’re calculating.
- Check the beginning balance for the account.
- Add or subtract this from your general ledger balance that shows in your bank reconciliation summary
- This will give you the correct calculated balance
