Bank Reconciliation General Ledger Balance calculates incorrectly

Summary

The bank reconciliation general ledger balance is incorrect when reconciling two years prior or earlier in Sage BusinessWorks.

Resolution

Engineering is researching this issue for possible fix in a future release.

How the system calculates the bank reconciliation general ledger balance

  • The general ledger balance on the Bank Reconciliation Summary is a calculated figure based on your reconciliation date
  • It starts with that month’s beginning balance, adds debits, and subtracts credits to get the total
  • If you're reconciling a date two years back or earlier, the beginning balance isn’t included
  • In that case, the system calculates only the detailed balance: debits minus credits for that month and year

Manually calculate the balance

  1. Select GL, Reports, Trial Balance.
  2. Choose the month and year you’re calculating.
  3. Check the beginning balance for the account.
    • Add or subtract this from your general ledger balance that shows in your bank reconciliation summary
    • This will give you the correct calculated balance
