New implementations and prior version upgrades of Sage 300 may require different database configurations

One significant change related to database connections is new DSNs setup by the system will be defaulting to use the newly supported ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Server. The preferred method for connecting to a SQL database will be by Server in Database Setup. Existing DSNs with the driver SQL Server Native Client ## will continue to be supported until further notice. In a new implementation like 2023 or in an upgrade where a new DSN using the ODBC Driver 18 for SQL Server to connect, your will require a Server Certificate in place for SQL to connect to the SQL database properly. The required Certificate will need to be named exactly the same as the server name. It is important to plan with your IT staff to purchase a Server Certificate and have it in place to avoid any delays in your installation.
