How do I create an API key for integration between Sage 100 and Sage Supply Chain Intelligence

Created on  | Last modified on

Summary

To enable the integration between Sage 100 and Sage Supply Chain Intelligence (SSCI), an API key needs to be generated and linked to a dedicated SSCI service account user.

Description

To set up the Sage 100 connector (SageSCI.exe), an API key must be generated. SSCI API keys are associated with an SSCI user account. An SSCI service account user will be created automatically during SSCI provisioning for this purpose.

The SSCI service account user is a user account created for the sole purpose of housing this API key so that all activity performed through the Sage 100 connector (SageSCI.exe) is attributed to a user that differs from any other SSCI users.

As part of provisioning a customer account with a Sage 100 integration, if the customer account is provisioned through a partner, the partner’s email will be used to manage this SSCI service account user. Otherwise, the primary user’s email in the customer account will be used.

Resolution

The following instructions must be taken by the user who receives the invitation to manage the SSCI service account user. For this example, assume the user’s email is [email protected]:

SSCI service account user setup

  • An SSCI service account user will be created automatically for your SSCI environment. This ensures all integration activity is attributed to a dedicated user - separate from your day-to-day users.
  • If your customer account was provisioned by a partner, the partner's email will be used to manage the SSCI service account user. Otherwise, it defaults to the primary user's email on the customer account.

Generate API Key using SSCI service account user

  1. You'll receive a welcome email sent to: [email protected]
  2. Use this address to log into SSCI for service account management.
  3. Click "Get Started" in the email to activate the account.
  4. Set your password and accept the terms of service.
  5. Once logged in, go to My Account (top-right dropdown) and click "Generate API Key".
  6. Copy and save your API key somewhere secure. For your security, it won't be shown again.

Note: You'll enter this API key when running the Sage 100 connector (SageSCI.exe). For more information, see Set Up Sage Supply Chain Intelligence Integration.

Tip: Need to rotate your key? Log into SSCI using the SSCI service account user, return to the same screen, click "Regenerate", and save the new key. The previous key will be deactivated automatically.
