Summary
Additional Limit added in Time-Off Maintenance
Description
Sick Leave for Minnesota (ESST) requires two different limits unlike other States that require a limit and a carryover current limit.
Cause
Sick Leave for Minnesota (ESST) requires one limit for 48 hours/year (accrued hours only). A second limit required can accrue up to 80 hours total (accrued+carryover-used). The Addl Hours/Year field meets this need.
Resolution
Time-Off Maintenance for Minnesota's ESST.
- Sick accrues at one hour per 30 hours worked (.03334/hour worked). The maximum is 48 hours per year.
- Employees carryover their leave, with a maximum total hours to use of 80 hours.
Example:
- Employee has 30 hours of EST leave for the year and 50 hours of carryover. They will not accrue additional leave due to the 80-hour total limit.
Additional Information:
- Payroll Options apply to the entire Company Code. No changes will affect one Time-Off Code. The Time-Off Descriptions in Payroll Options apply to the same column in the Time-off Maintenance Code created.
- The selections can be different in each Time-Off Code. Normally, these will be the same for all employees.
- Addl Hours/Year.
- The Addl Hours/Year field is not editable in Employee Maintenance. This field defaults from the Time-Off Code.
- The Hours/Year limit applies when Payroll Options, Hours to use for Time-Off Limit field has Accrued Hours Only selected.
- The Addl Hours/Year can be Total Hours Accrued (Accrued+Carryover-Used).
- Addl Hrs to Use field.
- The Addl Hrs to Use field isn’t enabled unless the Addl Hours/Year field has data. (Grayed out if 0.00).
- Accrued Only is used when carryover hours and used hours do not apply to the limit.
- Select Accrued+CO when total accrued hours plus carryover hours equals the annual limit defined in the Addl Hours/Year field.
- Select Accrued+CO-Used when all 3 are used in the limit calculation defined in the Addl Hours/Year field.
