Summary
Description
Applies to:
- Sage 100 (64‑bit)
- Sage Alerts & Workflow (KnowledgeSync)
- Crystal Reports (64‑bit designer)
Resolution
Sage 100 2026.0 is only available as a 64-bit application, the first time that a 32-bit version is not available. Sage Alerts & Workflow continues to run as a 32‑bit application, utilizing 32-bit Crystal Reports for reporting. For Sage Alerts and Workflows to work properly with 64-bit Sage 100 and Crystal Reports, you must configure a dual ODBC configuration with 32-bit and 64-bit DSNs.
When you use the supported dual DSN configuration, Alerts & Workflow and Crystal Reports function as expected without requiring product replacement.
Supported Configuration: Dual System DSNs
To ensure full functionality, configure the following:
- One 32‑bit System DSN
- Used by the Sage Alerts & Workflow runtime
- One 64‑bit System DSN
- Used by the Crystal Reports 64‑bit designer
- Both DSNs must:
- Use the same DSN name
- Use the same configuration
This configuration allows each component to connect using the appropriate architecture while maintaining consistent access to the data source.
How This Configuration Works
With the dual System DSNs in place:
- Sage Alerts & Workflow executes alerts and workflows using its 32‑bit engine
- Crystal Reports runs in the 64‑bit designer
- Reports execute successfully within Sage Alerts & Workflow
This approach supports customers and partners transitioning to Sage 100 (64‑bit) without disruption.
Additional Considerations
- Enable Silent Mode on the DSN for automated and scheduled processes
- If you use SQL‑based alternatives (such as Linked Servers), you may need to adjust some query syntax
