***Note: Before any options below, be sure to disable any antivirus program (including Windows Defender if being utilized in addition to the antivirus program)***
Section 1: Manually Install Service Releases and Tax Updates
- Close Sage.
- Open Computer.
- Browse to Updates folder located in your data path. Refer to How to find data path and program path.
- Right-click latest Service Release or Tax Update, and then select Run as administrator.
Section 2: Download and install one update at a time
- Open Sage 50.
- Select Services, Check for Updates, and then Check Now.
- Clear the box for all but one of the updates to download and install.
Note: Program updates must be installed before tax updates. - Select Download.
- Close Sage 50 once download is complete.
- Verify update installs.

Section 3: Damaged Updates folder
- Close Sage 50.
- Browse to the data path. Refer to How to find data path and program path.
- Rename Updates folder to OldUpdates.
- Open Sage 50, select Services, and then select Check for Updates.
- Verify update installs
Section 4: Check for Peachw.exe and install manually
- Close Sage 50.
- Open Task Manager, select the Details tab and then end all Peachw.exe process(es).
- Do not reattempt to open Sage50.
- Manually install the upgrade/update directly from the Updates folder in the data path. Refer to How to install updates.
Section 5: Install update in Safe Mode with Networking
- Reboot computer.
- After it finishes powering down and starts back up, press F8 key until you get a Windows Startup Menu.
- Choose Safe Mode with Networking.
- Open Sage 50.
- Close Sage 50 to let the update run.
- If update does not automatically run, refer to How to install updates.
- After the update completes, reboot computer again to return to normal startup.
Section 6: Verify program path is valid
- Refer to How to find data path and program path to locate the program path.
- Verify the directory exists and can be opened without error message.
Note: If the directory states C:\ only and this is the directory where you installed the program, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the program to the Sage 50 default directory. See Sage 50 installation instructions in the Related resources section.
