Understand import file requirements
The import file is user-specific and varies by business need.
Each record must appear on its own row.
Format each entry as plain text or a valid date format.
Required fields for slip imports
Include the following fields to import slips.
Required fields for all slips:
- Timekeeper Nickname 1
- Client Nickname 1
- Activity Nickname 1
Common fields for time slip import:
- Description
- Transaction Date
- Time Spent
Common fields for expense slip import:
- Description
- Transaction Date
- Quantity
- Price
Start the import process
- Select File, Import.
- Select File, New.
- Choose the file type to import.
- Tab Delimited
- Comma Delimited, recommended
- Custom Delimited
- Single Field
- Fixed Length
- From DLL
- Click Next.
- Select Time and Expense Slips.
- Click Finish.
Select the source file
- On Get data from, click the ellipses (…).
- Browse to the import file.
- Click Open.
Map fields and complete the import
- Match each source column to a Timeslips field.
- Select Unknown for columns you don’t want to import.
- Click Import.
When prompted to create a backup:
- Click Yes.
- Name the backup file, then click OK.
- Click OK when the backup confirmation appears.
When the import completes, click OK.
After completion, review imported slips for accuracy.
