Option 1: Clean up company folder

  1. Close Sage 50 on all computers.
  2. Browse to the individual company folder that you are unable to open. See How to locate company directories.
  3. Delete or rename the following files:
  • COSESS.DAT
  • *.RPT
  • *.PTR
  • *.PTL
  • *.MKD
  • *.LCK
  • *.DATptl
  • *.DATtemp
  • *.DDF

Option 2: Close open files

  1. Have all users exit Sage 50.
  2. Log into the server/host computer as administrator.
  3. Go to Computer Management, Shared Folders, Open Files.
  4. Close any file that is open from the company data folder.
