Double exclamation marks (!!) appear on the Current Ledger or Year-to-date Ledger in General Ledger (entry updated the wrong period's activity field during posting)
Description
Cause

The cause of this issue is being investigated.

Note: This may be the result of the Printer Spool setting being set to Start printing immediately at the time of posting. The printer spool setting should be set to Start printing after last page is spooled.

During posting, the amount of a transaction updated the activity field for an incorrect period instead of the activity field for the date of the entry.

For example, the accounting date of the transaction is 4/15/2022 but it updated the activity field for 7/31/2022 (Future Activity 3). In this scenario, the !! will appear on the ledger for both April 2022 and July 2022.

In most cases, it is generally Future Activity 3 that is updated, but there have been cases where it was a different activity field. Also, it is typically only one transaction out of the batch where the incorrect activity field is updated.

Note: If periods have been closed since the transaction was originally posted, then the periods will roll along with the amounts so that the discrepancy will no longer be in Future Activity 3 but in whatever activity field that period had now rolled to.

Resolution
  1. Contact Sage 300 CRE Customer Support for assistance to get the account's balances corrected.
  2. To hopefully prevent the problem in the future, change the Printer Spool setting for all printers/printer objects used with Sage 300 CRE to Start printing after last page is spooled.
