Resolution

[BCB:5:Third-party support:ECB]

The default paper size isn’t 8.5" x 11"

  1. Open the Control Panel, then select Devices and Printers.
  2. Change the default printer to one that supports normal margins.
  3. If you’re using a printer that should be able to print 8.5"x11" documents: Troubleshoot the printer to make 8.5"x11" the standard paper size, or refer to the printer's manufacturer.

A field within the form is too close to the red dotted line

  1. Select the Print button on the payment transaction window.
  2. The form you normally use will be displayed in the Use This Form box.
  3. Select the Form Design button to view the form layout.
  4. If any field appears to be very close to the red-dotted line which defines the margins perimeter of the form: Click the field to select it and either drag it away using the mouse or use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move the field.

Incorrect orientation

  1. On the Print Preview window, verify that the correct printer is selected, and click the Properties button. The available options on the screen that appears will depend upon the printer.
  2. If the form is designed to print in landscape orientation, verify in the printer's properties that the orientation selected is Landscape. If the form is designed to print in portrait orientation, verify that Portrait is selected.

Attempting to print using a customized form with incorrect orientation

  1. Make sure printing is done using the correct form before trying again.
  2. If this doesn't resolve the issue, proceed to the next section.

Corruption in the Forms folder within the data path

  1. Browse to the data path. See How to find the data path and program path.
  2. Right-click on the Forms folder and rename it to OldForms.
  3. Run a Repair of the installation. This will install a new Forms folder. See How to repair the Sage 50 installation.
  4. Once the Repair is complete, open Sage 50 and try to print. Your customized forms won’t appear.
  5. Verify that you can now print.
  6. Browse back to the data path and open the OldForms folder.
  7. Highlight, right-click, and copy your customized form (.FRM) files.
    • The customized form file names will have more than one 0 after the letters. For instance, INV01031.FRM is a standard invoice file and is in the new Forms folder, and INV00001.FRM is a customized invoice file
  8. Paste the copied customized form files into the new folder called Forms.
  9. Open Sage 50 and verify that you can print.
    • If you receive the error message again, remove custom form files from the Forms folder

As an alternative to running Repair you can try the following variation on the last section:

  1. Rename the Forms folder in the data path to OldForms.
  2. Create a new folder in the data path called Forms.
  3. Copy all the standard FRM files into the new Forms folder.
  4. Verify that the standard forms can print.
  5. Move the most recently modified customized FRM file into the new Forms folder and verify printing.
  6. Repeat one form at a time, testing printing ability with each FRM file copied.
