Data is from a version older than six years

Contact Sage 50—U.S. Edition Support at 866-747-3888 for assistance with the conversion process if the data is from a version older than 2020.

• Sage 50 Accounting 2026 can convert from Sage 50 Accounting 2020 and later
• Sage 50 Accounting 2024 can convert from Sage 50 Accounting 2018 and later

Make sure you're opening the correct copy of the company

1. Go to File and Open Company.
2. If you have multiple copies of the same company, make sure you're opening the current one.

Check for Data Corruption

1. Restore the most recent backup of your company into a new company.
2. Make sure the new company opens without error.
3. Open the new company directory.
4. Copy the Version.txt file from the new company directory.
5. Open the original company directory.
6. Paste the Version.txt file from the new company into the original company directory.

 NOTE: Copy Version.txt from a sample company if a backup isn’t available.
