Section 1: Sharing from the server

  1. Verify your data path on the server. For instructions on finding your data path please refer to How to find data path and program path.
  2. Share out one level above the folder that contains your company directories; usually it is named Company. As an example, if your server's data path is C:\Sage\Peachtree\Company you would share the Peachtree folder.
  3. Share the folder with full control to the Administrator and System groups, additionally you will need to add the specific Windows user(s) that will be using Sage 50. For instructions on sharing please refer toVerify my data file permissions are correctly set.

Section 2: Map the drive on the workstation

  1. For instructions on mapping the drive please see How to map a network drive.
  2. Keeping with the example datapath in Section I you would map to the Peachtree folder. You may choose whichever unused drive letter you like for the mapping.
    • Do not map directly to a specific company directory. For example, if your company name is World's First Company the company directory would be worfirco (World's First Company)
  3. When you open up your mapped drive you should see the folder named Company.
  4. You can further verify this is the correct location by looking for the following file in the Company folder:
    • PEACHDAT.LOC - when opened with notepad this should display the same year as the version you are installing
    • For example, if you are installing Sage 50 2023 the peachdat.loc file will say 2023 when opened in Notepad. If it says anything else, the program will not install or run properly
    • If the drive has been improperly mapped Sage 50 will not install or run
