Change at server or standalone computer

  1. Open Sage 50 and make a backup of each company. See How do I create a backup?
  2. Close Sage 50.
  3. Open the Control Panel, and then select Programs and Features.
  4. Uninstall Sage 50 Accounting.
  5. Reinstall the program, selecting the new data location during the Installation Wizard.
  6. Open Sage and restore each backup from Step 1 into a new company. See How to restore a backup.

Change at workstations with UNC path (preferred)

  1. Close Sage 50.
  2. Note the UNC path to the new data location.
  3. Open File Explorer and browse to C:\ProgramData\Sage\Peachtree.
  4. Open the configuration file for your version (using Notepad, if prompted to select a program).
    • Release 2024: Peachtree310.ini
    • Release 2023: Peachtree300.ini
    • Release 2022: Peachtree290.ini
  5. Edit the line beginning DATAPATH= to use your new data location.
    • For example, change it to DATAPATH=\\SERVERNAME\Peachtree\Company\ if the server's name was SERVERNAME with a share name of Peachtree
  6. Select File, and then click Save.
  7. Close Notepad.
  8. Open Sage 50 and verify the data is accessible.

Change at workstations with a mapped drive

These steps assume that you already mapped the new network drive. If you haven’t yet mapped the network drive, see How to map a network drive.

  1. Close Sage 50.
  2. Note the path to the new data location.
  3. Open File Explorer and browse to C:\ProgramData\Sage\Peachtree.
  4. Open the configuration file for your version (using Notepad, if prompted to select a program).
    • Release 2024: Peachtree310.ini
    • Release 2023: Peachtree300.ini
    • Release 2022: Peachtree290.ini
  5. Edit the line beginning DATAPATH= to use your new data location.
    • For example, change it from DATAPATH=P:\Company\ to DATAPATH=N:\Peachtree\Company\
  6. Select File, and then click Save.
  7. Close Notepad.
  8. Open Sage 50 and verify the data is accessible.
