Yes, you can import the Chart of Accounts budget. You will need to create the file to import as a Comma-Separated Value type (CSV). We recommend using Microsoft Excel Notes: - If you have not entered a budget before, you can still follow the steps below. Create a backup before attempting an import
- To see or use a properly formatted template, export an existing budget from your company
Section 1: Export a budget to create a template - Go to File, Select Import/Export.
- Select General Ledger on the left and Budget List on the right.
- Select Export.
- Select This Year in the Date field.
- Click on the Options tab.
- Select Include Headings.
- Note the name and location of the file that will be created.
- Click OK.
- Go to the location noted in step 7 and open the file.
- You can enter amounts directly into this file or you can use this file as a guide to set up the file you want to import.
Section 2: Import the new budget file - Click File, Select Import/Export.
- Select General Ledger on the left and Budget List on the right.
- Click Import.
- On the Fields tab, make sure all fields included in the import file are checked, and all fields not included are unchecked.
Note: For each type of data there is set of required fields; consult the Sage 50 Help for specifics (click Help, Help Topics, select the Index tab, and enter import/export fields for a list of each data type). - Use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to rearrange the fields so they are in the exact order as in the import file.
- Select the Options tab.
- Click the button below Import/Export File to select the import file (Section 1, Step 7).
- Check First Row Contains Headings if your file contains headings.
- Click OK to import the file; when the process completes, the window will close to the Select Import/Export window.
Notes: - Format of fields is important. An amount should be formatted as General or Number, but not Currency. If an account does not have a budget for one of the fields, enter 0
- If your file has titles in the first column, as the file created in the above steps, select First Row Contains Headings on the Options tab when importing
