Damaged Taxtable.dat file

1. Locate your company directory and open it in the File Explorer.
2. Rename Taxtable.dat to Taxtable.old.
3. Find a recent backup and place a copy on the Desktop.
4. Right-click on the backup file and change the extension from .ptb to .zip, then press Enter.
5. Right-click on the .zip file and select Extract All.
6. Follow the extraction wizard until it completes.
7. Open the extracted folder and right-click the Taxtable.dat file, select Copy.
8. Browse to the data location of the company again and paste the Taxtable.dat file recovered from the backup.
9. Verify that you can now save changes to Payroll Settings.

The program is using defaults

When choosing the My own formulas option for Vacation or Sick Time under Benefits in Payroll Settings: The program will default back to the original option, The answers to the questions below, if you don't change the default formulas in the Total Hours and Remaining. To test this, pull up the Vacation or Sick Time benefit in Payroll Settings.

1. Go to Maintain, Payroll, and select Payroll Settings.
2. Select Benefits and then Vacation or Sick Time.
3. Choose the My own formulas option and make a note of the default formulas present. Then pick a random formula for either or both fields.
4. Click Finish to exit the Payroll Settings wizard.
5. Go back to Payroll Settings, select the benefit, and verify that you still have the My own formulas option selected with the random formulas chosen. If not, then proceed to the previous section.
6. Select the option for The Answers to the questions below, and click Finish to exit the Payroll Settings wizard once more.
7. Pull up an employee record using the defaults for vacation or sick time.
8. Click the Vacation/Sick Time tab, then Current Formulas.
9. Verify that the default formulas are present.
10. Repeat steps 6-8 and verify that the Current Formulas are correct.

Individual company database is damaged

1. Open a sample company and attempt to save changes in the same payroll setup settings location. If able to save, restore a backup of your company into a new company folder.
2. Verify you’re able to save changes now.
