How to migrate Sage Fixed Assets Single User products

Note: The following assumes you are moving the Sage Fixed Asset Single User, Sage Fixed Asset Lite Depreciation, Sage Fixed Asset Lite Depreciation for Sage 50 or Sage 50 Fixed Assets program to a new machine and installing the same or higher version. Company Backup files (.BBK) from 2013.0 can be restored into the latest version of the program.

In Sage Fixed Assets Depreciation:



  1. In the Sage Fixed Assets, backup the database (Do this once for each database):
    1. Go to: File, Company Utilities, Backup Company
    2. Choose a database from the Database drop down menu
    3. Choose Select All, click Next
    4. Select a known location to save the backup file.
    5. Specify a name for the backup file in the file Name field, click Backup
    6. Repeat for each database in use
    7. Copy the backup file(s) to the new machine
  2. Install the Sage Fixed Assets product onto the new computer.
  3. Create a new database (Do this once for each backup file). In Depreciation:
    1. Go to: File, Database List Manager.
    2. Select New Database.
    3. Enter a Database Name (The name seen in the program)
    4. Enter the Database File Name (The name seen in Windows)
    5. Choose location where keep the databases. This location must be on the same local hard drive where the program is installed for the Single User Edition
    6. Select OK
  4. Restore the backup(s). (Do this once for each backup file):
    1. Go to: File, Company Utilities, Restore Company.
    2. Click Browse, browse to the backup file (*.BBK file), click Open
    3. Select companies to restore (to restore all companies within the backup file, click Select All), click Next.
    4. Select a database to restore the company or companies into, click Next.
    5. Select desired purge option.
      NOTE: Purging the history has the advantage of speeding up data access performance. While this is the suggested method, be aware that purging the history will remove depreciation event entries under the History tab of assets.
    6. Click Restore. Once complete, choose Yes to restore another company or No to exit the utility.
