Description

Cause

Resolution

The following security settings must be set up for any third-party API application to access data in Sage 100 Contractor. Follow these steps to ensure your Sage Sage 100 Contractor API security settings are configured correctly

An API security group must be set up in 7-2-1 Security Groups and the group must be assigned to the user in 7-2-2 User List.

  1. Open 7-2-1 Security Groups.
  2. In the Group# cell, type a group number.
  3. In the Group Name cell, type API - the API security group must be named exactly "API"
  4. In the Save column, type Yes.
  5. In the Delete cell, if you want to allow the users of the API group to delete records, type Yes. If not, type No.
  6. From File menu, Save
  7. Open 7-2-2 User List.
  8. For users who will be using the API, add the API group to an empty Group column cell.
  9. You will also need to set up a API user and add the API group to the user.
  10. From File menu, Save
  11. Also go into Database Administration on the server--Advanced SQL Server Settings--if check marked Limit Access to this SQL Server instance, click Edit Approvals and give your 3rd party product approval to talk to this instance.

For more information on setting up the API security group, refer to help topic "Setting up a security group for using the API" in the Sage 100 Contractor Help menu.
