Recommended

We recommend the 32-bit version of Microsoft Office 365.

Compatible, but not tested

The following versions have worked with Sage 300 CRE and Sage Estimating, but we don't currently test new Sage updates with these versions.

Microsoft 365, Microsoft Office 2016, or 2013 Click-to-Run

The Project Management Correspondence Log is compatible with versions 15 and higher.

Install Outlook on the workstation using the Send feature. Send won't work if you access Outlook by logging into a webpage on the workstation. See information below about using SMTP instead of an installed program.

Not compatible

The following Microsoft Office versions are NOT compatible with Sage 300 CRE and Sage Estimating.

64-bit versions

No 64-bit edition of Microsoft Office is compatible. Only Microsoft Office 32-bit editions can access Timberline ODBC data sources.

Microsoft Home and Business

No version of Microsoft Home and Business is compatible. This version is a Click-To-Run application. The Outlook portion of this application doesn't appear to support add-ins and doesn't work with PJ Correspondence Log. It may not work with Send.

There are three ways to verify if you're using a Microsoft Home and Business version of Outlook:

  • Verify in Outlook by selecting File, then Help, About
  • Check the Control Panel in Uninstall a program / Programs and Features / Add or Remove Programs
  • In the Windows Registry, if this key exists, you may be using this unsupported version: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\InstallRoot\Virtual\VirtualOutlook

More information for using SMTP

If your Mail Settings specify using SMTP, Sage 300 CRE communicates directly with an SMTP mail server. You don't have to install Microsoft Outlook on the computer if you're using this feature.

Currently, the SMTP feature only works with port 25. It doesn't work with Secured SSL or StartTLS protocols, which typically use ports 587 and 465. Set up an SMTP mail server relay if you're using Microsoft 365 or other 3rd-party mail servers with SSL or StartTLS. Contact your IT professional or refer to the Microsoft Technet articles below for more information:

Sage Support can't assist you with the setup for an SMTP mail relay, SSL or StartTLS. Contact your IT professional.
