BI Tools menu is missing when running a Report Designer report
Description

Note: The Distribution feature isn’t available until version 4.50.7107.015 (4.50.7107.007 for the Premium edition) for Sage 100 ERP (formerly Sage MAS 90 and 200) version 4.50.

Cause
Resolution

Verify the license and activation for the Sage Intelligence Report Designer module 

  1. (Open License Manager, click account number (left side), a "1" must be in the Report Designer Enabled field.)
  2. If you’ve purchased the Report Designer module and a "1" doesn’t display, click Perform Registration button.
  3. If "1" still doesn't display, contact Sage Sales to update your Sage Intelligence registration keys.
  4. Verify you’re running a designer report as located under the "Designer" folder in Report Manager.

Note: As of Sage 100 ERP version 2013, Sage Intelligence Report Designer is compatible with Excel 2007 or 2010 (32-bit versions only)

BI Tools menu is missing:

 

Open the Add-Ins manager in Excel Options

Select Excel Options from the Office Pearl:

Select Add-Ins:

Find the folder path to the BI Generator, in the add-in lists and follow the applicable steps below:

 

Enable Inactive Add-in

When the BI Generator add-in is located in the Inactive Application Add-Ins section,

Select COM Add-Ins from the Manage list, and click Go:

 

Select the check box next to BI Generator and then click OK:

 

Enable Disabled Add-in

If the BI Generator add-in is located in the Disabled Application Add-Ins section, then select Disabled Add-Ins from the Manage list and click Go:

 

Select the BI Generator add-in and click Enable:

 

Note: Generally, when you complete the above step, the BI Generator add-in will change from Disabled to Inactive. You’ll need to follow the steps documented above in under Enable Inactive Add-in for the BI Tools menu to appear in Excel.

If none of the above steps work, try the following:

  1. Close all instances of Excel that you have open.
  2. Right-click on the Task bar and select Task Manager)
  3. Click the Processes Tab and locate any EXCEL.EXE items.
  4. For each Excel.exe process, right-click the item and select End Process.
  5. After removing all instances of EXCEL.EXE, open Excel and start from the beginning of this document.

 

When prior resolutions fail

For Windows 7 machine with Excel 2010 32 bit, try the following:

  1. Download onto the local workstation & install Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime, located at http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=42513
    1. Note: Exit out of Sage Intelligence and Excel before installing
  2. After installing open Excel;
    • if the BI Tools menu is missing,
      • follow instructions above under Enable Inactive Add-in section to Enable BI Generator add-in
      • generate report as usual from with Report Manager
    • if the BI Tools menu is there;
      •  generate report as usual from with Report Manager

OR

  1. Uninstall.Netframework 3.5 with Service Pack 1, using Add/Remove programs
  2. Install.Netframework 3.5 with Service Pack 1. Download is available on Microsoft's site, http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=33
