How to print MICR fonts on checks in Sage 100
Description

One common mistake when customizing a form, is extending the size of a section to fit a field, thus also causing the printouts to "creep" or cause another blank page to print. Avoid changing the vertical or horizonal spacing of any sections.

Cause
Sage 100 2013 and later uses Crystal Reports forms for check printing. These forms requires TrueType fonts, an outline font standard developed by Apple and Microsoft.

Note: The standard Crystal Report check forms (Pre-Printed Laser) is designed for checks that are pre-printed (i.e. the bank routing number, account number and check number are already inked in MICR font). If you desire to print the information in MICR font on a check form, it is up to you to customize your check forms to make use of a MICR check font. MICR fonts (and other fonts) may be purchased or obtained from third-party vendors, such as Adobe.

Sage Customer Support does not assist with purchase, installation, or implementation (getting the font on the form and working properly). Consult your business partner or a qualified consultant if you require assistance. (See the Related Resources section for more information on accessing Crystal Reports help.)

However, installing the Federal and State Tax Reporting that comes with Sage 100 versions 2013 (and higher) will also install a TrueType MICR font. If you wish to use the MICR font that comes with Federal and State Tax Reporting for your own check printing purposes, then:

  1. From the Sage 100 Workstation Setup installation menu, choose to Install Federal and State Tax Reporting. (This procedure will install an Aatrix MICR True Type Font on the specific workstation, which can be used for Check Printing from that workstation):
    1. From the workstation, open Windows Explorer or File Explorer to browse to the "..\MAS90\Wksetup" folder on the server where Sage 100 is installed
    2. Right-click "Autorun.exe"
    3. Select Run as Administrator from the pop-up menu
      • Note: Do not install eFiling and Reporting on the server
    4. Select Install Federal and State Tax Reporting to start the InstallShield Wizard.
    5. Select Next
    6. Select Finish
    7. Repeat for each workstation that need access to eFiling and Reporting.
  2. Edit the Check form (Printed Description type does not have the @MICR by default, Plain Description does) by Right Clicking the @MICR field on the check and select Format Field
    • Note: Crystal Reports Designer must be installed on the machine in order to edit the check form
      • Example: For Sage 100 2018, Crystal Reports 2016 for Sage
      • Example: For Sage 100 2013 through 2017, Crystal Reports 2011 for Sage
  3. Open the Font tab and change font to Aatrix MICR font - it will be listed with a MICR symbol followed by the word Aatrix

If you do not have the Sage 100 installation files, please do the following:

  1. Browse to the ..\MAS90\Wksetup folder and right click on Autorun.exe and select to Run as Administrator
  2. Select Install Federal and State Tax Reporting
  3. Proceed with Step 2 & 3 above

If issue still persists, verify MICR printing is enabled:

  1. Open Common Information, Main menu, Bank Code Maintenance
  2. Select applicable Bank Code from look up
  3. Click the MICR button
  4. Type the alphabet letter equivalent into the Check Prefix or Check Suffix field as desired

Note: If your bank requires the MICR font to print after the account number, you must type the applicable alphabet letter before and after the account number in Bank Code Maintenance.
