| How do I configure user rights to run Sage BusinessWorks |
Description | In Windows 10 or higher, the concept of a power user is covered by Administrator accounts. Standard Accounts can gain elevated privileges through User Account Control (UAC). - Administrator Account: Full system access and control
- Standard User with Elevated Rights: A user can temporarily gain elevated permissions through UAC for specific actions

Resolution | Windows security rights required to run Sage BusinessWorks - Power user equivalent rights to the local workstation
- Users accessing Sage BusinessWorks via a remote desktop server don’t need power user equivalent rights on the application server. They need to have power user equivalent rights on the terminal server
- The user needs local administrator rights on the workstation to install, uninstall, and update Enhanced Tax Reporting
- Full control share permissions on the share point on the server for all Sage BusinessWorks users
- Full control NTFS security permissions of the shared folder for all Sage BusinessWorks users
Troubleshooting Tips - Form printing
- Log on to the computer as Administrator. If the forms print without error, the user's rights are insufficient. Also review the user's rights to the printer
- Log on to the computer as Administrator and place the user into the Administrator group. Reinstall the printer driver. Move the user back to the power user equivalent group. Log off of Windows and log back on to test
- General Issues
- Damaged user profiles can cause errors. Create a new user with the appropriate security rights. Log on as that user and test the function. If it works as the new user, the old profile is damaged
- Multiple shares on the same folder or shared folders within shared folders cause rights issues. Before removing any unnecessary shares, ensure that other applications aren’t using them
- Shares can become damaged. Remove the share, save, and create a new share with the same name
- Administrative shares on the root of the drive do not provide appropriate access rights. Either share the root of the drive with full control or create a new share with full control
