Note: If money is being recovered from the customer, make the appropriate posting for a reduction in cash, increase the balance owed on the customer's account, and reinstate the invoice. If money is not being recovered from the customer and instead will absorb the expense yourself, make the appropriate posting for a reduction in cash and then distribute the expense to the appropriate General Ledger account such as bad debt expense. 1. Open Accounts Receivable, Main, Cash Receipts Entry. 2. Select Cash in the Deposit Type field, in the Cash Receipts Deposit Entry window. 3. In the Bank Code field, select the bank code to be affected. 4. Enter the Deposit Date and Deposit Number fields. 5. Enter the deposit amount less the credits or credit amount as a negative number in the Deposit Amount field, and click OK. 6. Enter the Customer Number in the Cash Receipts Entry window. 7. Enter a description in the Check No field (e.g. CCREVERSE). 8. Enter the amount as a negative number in the Amount Received field, and then click the Lines tab. (import will bring in as zero) 9. If money is being recovered from the customer: a) Enter the Invoice to be reinstated in the Invoice Number field. b) Enter the invoice amount as a negative number in the Amount Posted field, and click OK. 10. If money is not being recovered from the customer and the expense will be absorbed: a) Enter the General Ledger account number in the GL Account field to be used to post the negative amount (e.g. "Bad Debt Expense"). b) Click Accept, and then print and update the Cash Receipts Journal and Daily Transaction Register.
