Description
error "Application cannot be started. Contact the application vendor." while processing credit cards in Sage Exchange.
Cause
A corrupted Windows user profile prevents Sage Exchange from starting correctly.
Resolution

Reinstall Sage Exchange and reset the application folder

Uninstall Sage Exchange

  • Open Control Panel.
  • Select Programs, then Programs and Features.
  • Uninstall Sage Exchange.

Rename the 2.0 folder

  • Open the Start menu.
  • Select Computer.
  • Open Local Disk (C:).
  • Open the Users folder.
  • Open the affected user’s folder.
  • Press ALT, select Tools, then Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Choose Show hidden folders, files, and drives.
  • Navigate to AppData, Local, Apps.
  • Locate the 2.0 folder.
  • Rename the folder, for example, 2.0_old.

Reinstall Sage Exchange

  • Go to www.sageexchange.com/install.
  • Click Next and follow the installation prompts.

NOTE:

If the issue continues, log in as another Windows user, such as Administrator, and reinstall Sage Exchange.
