Error: "Windows could not start the Actian service on local computer..."

Option 1: Close zenengnsvc32.exe or zenengnapp.exe in Task Manager

 1.  Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc on your keyboard to open the Task Manager.
2.  Click the Details tab and look for zenengnsvc32.exe or possibly zenengnapp.exe.
 3.  Select zenengnsvc32.exe or zenengnapp.exe and click End task, then click End process.\

Option 2: Reboot the computer

  1. Reboot the computer.
  2. Verify that the Actian Zen service was able to start.

Option 3: Uninstall and reinstall Actian Zen.

Option 4: Change Log on account that Actian starts with

  1. Close Sage 50 on all computers.
  2. On the server or the machine that hosts the Sage 50 data, press the Windows key + R to open a Run line.
  3. Type SERVICES.MSC, and then select OK.
  4. Right-click Actian Zen Workgroup Engine and select Properties.
  5. Select the Log On tab.  
  6. Select This account radio button.
  7. Enter the computer administrator user name and password.
  8. Select Apply, and then OK.
  9. Right-click Actian Zen WorkGroup Engine, and then select Start.
  10. If the error message persists, go back into Properties for the Actian service.
  11. Select the Log On tab.
  12. Select the Local System account radio button.
  13. Select Apply, and then OK. 
  14. Right-click Actian Zen WorkGroup Engine, and then select Start
