How to completely remove and reinstall Actian (formerly Pervasive)

Step 1: Remove Actian

  1. Close Sage 50 and verify all users have exited before removing Actian PSQL Workgroup Engine at the server.
  2. Press the Windows+R keys on the keyboard and type AppWiz.cpl in the Open box. Then click OK to access Programs & Features.
  3. Uninstall any listed version of Actian Zen Workgroup.
  4. Close the Control Panel and press the Windows+R keys again.
  5. Type C:\ and click OK.
  6. If present, delete the folders pvsw and pvswarch.
  7. If present, delete any file named ActianZen_v[version number]_Install.log and/or ActianZen_v[version number]_Patch.log.
  8. Browse to C:\Windows and if present, delete pvsw.log.
  9. Browse to C:\ProgramData.
     NOTE: You need to show hidden files and folders to see this folder.
  10. If present, rename the Actian folder to OldActian.
  11. Browse to C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86).
  12. If present, rename the Actian folder to OLDActian.
  13. Browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files or C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files.
  14. If present, rename the Actian folder to OLDActian.
  15. Close File Explorer.
  16. Press the Windows+R key again and type regedit, then click OK.
  17. Right-click Computer, left-click Export, and save a backup of the Registry to the Desktop of the computer.
  18. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node.
     NOTE: Don't delete the Wow6432Node folder itself - only the individual registry keys named in Step 19 below.
  19. If present, delete Actian, Pervasive Software, and PEYX489ZK.
  20. Close Registry Editor.

 

Step 2: Manually Reinstall Actian

  1. In File Explorer, browse to the installation folder located at C:\Sage\Sage50_[version].
    • You can also browse to the Program Path to open the PeachtreeInstaller20xx folder
  2. Open the PervasiveMin folder and double-click SetupWorkgroup32_x86.exe.
  3. Select Next.
  4. Accept the license agreement, click Next.
  5. Select Run as a Service, click Next.
  6. Select Complete and click Next.
  7. Select Install and click Finish.

 

Alternatively:

  • Install Sage, if it isn't already on your computer
  • If Sage is already on your computer, run Repair
