Important considerations

  • Changing File Locations for accounting files can cause reconciliation issues in Sage 300 CRE.
  • Changing your tax file path can cause incorrect calculations if the new folder doesn't contain updated files.

You can use different folder locations for certain files. Use this feature when you have multiple data folders that only share some files. For example, you have multiple company folders that use the same Payroll taxes or that post to the same General Ledger.

Work with your Sage Consultant to update your file paths properly or if you need help with reconciliation.

General Information

  • When you leave the location blank, Sage assumes the file location is the current data folder.
    • Exception: When you leave EQ ImportJC Commitment-import, or JC DC-import blank, Sage uses the Imports path. If you leave the Imports line blank, Sage uses the current folder path.
  • File Locations for Printouts and Reports are generally ok to change.
  • If you're using a test data folder, confirm the File Locations don't go to live data. This can cause reconciliation issues in the live data.

Report file locations

Report designs install to a single default folder location. If you set a custom folder path and then remove it, Sage checks the original default folder path instead. Changing the path can cause Sage 300 CRE to return errors because it can't locate the report designs.

Update File Location paths

  1. Launch the Sage Desktop.
  2. Open the Applications pane.
  3. Go to Common Tasks, File, Company Settings, File Locations.
  4. Locate the file you need to change in the list.
  5. Add a path, change an existing path, or remove the path as needed.
  6. Optional: Check the Ask Name box to have Sage prompt for a file location when you access the file.
  7. Click OK.
