Update File Locations after moving to a new server
Description

If you've moved Sage 300 CRE to a new server or otherwise changed your data locations, follow the steps below to update each location.

Cause
Resolution

Once you set File Locations and use them in production, work with your Sage Consultant if you need to change these settings. Changing them incorrectly can result in data loss.

If users changed data after the server move, but before updating the File Locations, reverse the activity or restore the data folders from a backup. Complete the reversal or restore before updating the File Locations.

If the server is a test server, make sure the File Locations aren’t pointing to the production server to change live data.

Update the paths

  1. Make a backup of your data.
  2. Launch the Sage Desktop.
  3. Go to Applications, Common Tasks, File, Company Settings, File Locations.
  4. Scroll down the list to see if there are any File Types with a Data Folder path.
    • If they’re blank, you don’t need to update anything.
    • If there’s a path, continue with the next steps.
  5. Make a note of each path and determine where the location is on the new server. Update the path to the new location.
  6. Click OK to save the changes.
  7. Repeat these steps for each data folder.
