Error: "Errors were written to the SQL Translation Log"
Description

The SQL Data Translation of SYSTEM xxx.log may contain notes with the exact records that are having the problem (or at least the table to be viewed), such as:

SY_ZipCode......................... Records written: 961,934 of 961,931
SY_ZipCode......................... Key not found in PVX: ONTB3J3K1
SY_ZipCode......................... Key not found in PVX: ONTL7R 4L4
SY_ZipCode......................... Key not found in PVX: USA17135

In this example, the issue is the SY_Zipcode table in the MAS_SYSTEM database.

The zip code B3J3K1 in country ONT (this should be CAN, for Canada) is the first one. Someone entered record in older Premium install as Zip Code B3J3K1 but country code ONT instead of County CAN with State/Province of ONT.

For the 2nd entry, the Zip code was entered as L7R 4L4 instead of L7R4L4 and once again country of ONT instead of CAN.

Final entry is Country code of USA but with a zip code 17135 that does not exist, in checking further (State was PA) this should be Zip code 17535 which was mistyped in the older install.

These records would need to be corrected (or deleted) to resolve the error - it would also need to be confirmed if any customers, vendors, ShipTo addresses, are using these incorrect zip code entries.

Another example:

SY_ActivityLog..................... Records written: 68 of 66
SY_ActivityLog..................... Key not found in PVX: A~2022052012.048612
SY_ActivityLog..................... Key not found in PVX: A~2022052012.048616

This would indicate that bad records exist in the SY_activitylog table in the MAS_SYSTEM database.

Cause
  • Corrupt data
  • Old .M4T files
Resolution

[BCB:5:Third-party support:ECB]

Issue can occur when migrating from Premium to Premium and the Source installation contains old Providex *.M4T files under ...\MAS90\MAS_System\ folder or corrupt data

NOTE: Premium version does have PVX files, but very few compared to Providex edition

  1. Start with reviewing the SQL Data Translation Logs under ...\MAS90\MAS_XXX (if error occurs when converting Company Data) or ...\MAS90\MAS_System (if error occurs during migration) folder of the Target\New installation.
NOTE: The information is normally in the last log file created and contain the message 'Errors were logged' toward the bottom of the file.
    • For example:
      • (problems with company data) ...\MAS90\MAS_XXX\SQL Data Translation xxx.log (where xxx = 000-099)
      • (problems with system files) ...\MAS90\MAS_System\SQL Data Translation xxx.log
  2. Search for entries with one the following messages. Make note of the table associated with the message
    • "Batch insert failed due to the following error"
    • "Records written:" when the values do not match
    • "IOList compare"
    • "Unable to open SQL table"

      Example: CM_UDF............................. IOList compare - Providex: *,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*,*
  3. Verify whether the file is corrupt or no longer required
    • Error occurred while CONVERTING company data from Providex to Premium (SQL)
NOTE: Make sure you have a backup of Company Data files
      1. Log into Source installation
      2. Open Library Master, Utilities, Data File Display and Maintenance
      3. Open the "problem" file recorded in Step 2. If you receive an error, try restore file from backup. If the file opens, go to next step.
      4. Exit Data File Display and Maintenance
      5. Open Library Master, Utilities, Rebuild Key Files
      6. Select Company Code and Module for file
      7. Select the file from Step 2 then click Proceed
      8. Exit Rebuild Key Files
      9. Exit Sage 100
      10. Browse to the Source installation ...\MAS90\ folder
      11. Right-click the company data folder MAS_XXX (where XXX = company with conversion error) and select Copy
      12. Browse to the Target\New installation ...\MAS90\ folder
      13. Rename the existing MAS_XXX folder to MAS_XXX.bad
      14. Right-click in an open area and select Paste
      15. Log into Target installation and try converting data again
    • Error occurred during MIGRATION from Premium to Premium
      1. Browse to ...\MAS90\MAS_System\ folder of the Source installation
      2. Look for the file(s) of the table name you made note of in Step 2
      3. If the file exist in the Source installations ...\MAS90\MAS_SYSTEM\ folder but not in the Target, rename the file by adding '.OLD' at the end of the file name (i.e. CM_UDF.m4t.OLD)
      4. Restore or Uninstall\Reinstall Target installation
      5. Rerun Migration
