Important preparation steps

Incorrect system changes can cause data loss or instability.

 

 Back up and restore SQL databases

Back up databases on the old server

  1. Open SQL Server Management Studio.
  2. Log in to the Database Engine.
  3. Expand Databases.
  4. Right-click MAS_System, select Tasks, Backup.
  5. Repeat for each MAS_XXX database.

Restore databases on the new server

  1. Restore MAS_System onto the new server.
  2. Restore all MAS_XXX company databases.

Install Sage 100 Premium on the new server

Merge system files

  1. Start the Sage 100 Premium installation.
  2. Enter SQL login details, then click Next.
  3. When prompted with the existing MAS_System message, click OK.
  4. Confirm merging system files with the restored database.

Configure Sage 100 Premium services

Set up the application server

  1. Open Sage 100 ERP Application Server Configuration.
  2. Select the Server tab.
  3. Enter a port number.
  4. Clear the Keep Alives checkbox.
  5. Click Apply, then Exit.

Start services

  1. Open Application Server Service Setup, then click OK.
  2. Open Windows Services.
  3. Select Sage 100 Premium ERP service for the assigned port.
  4. Open the Log On tab.
  5. Enter a domain account with local admin permissions.
  6. Click Apply, then start the service.

Copy MAS90 directory from the old server

  1. Ensure all users exit Sage 100 ERP.
  2. Stop Sage 100 ERP Premium and Integration Engine services.
  3. Copy the MAS90 folder to a temporary location on the new server.

Run pre-migration backup

  1. Log in to Sage 100 ERP.
  2. Open Library Master, Utilities, Pre-Migration.
  3. Enter the UNC path to the source MAS90 folder.
  4. Click Proceed.

Run parallel migration utility

Prepare the new server

  1. Stop Sage 100 services on the new server.
  2. Back up the new MAS90 folder.
  3. Navigate to MAS90, Migration folder.
  4. Open Migrate.exe.

Complete migration setup

  1. Click Next on the welcome screen.
  2. Select Sage 100 ERP Premium.
  3. Confirm all prior steps are complete.
  4. Enter target SQL server login details.
  5. Enter the new installation password.
  6. Enter the source MAS90 UNC path.
  7. Enter source SQL login details.
  8. Enter the source installation password.

Select companies to migrate

  1. Choose Yes on the Migrate Companies screen.
  2. Select the companies for migration.
  3. Click Next to start the migration.

NOTE:

The system shows “Exists” for companies listed in the database but missing MAS90 folders. Select the correct companies manually.
