Important precautions before you begin

CAUTION:

Always create a full backup before you begin any advanced procedure.

 

CAUTION:

This process requires database engine knowledge, including Microsoft SQL Server.

 

CAUTION:

 You need advanced knowledge of Windows security, network settings, and operating systems.

 

CAUTION:

Sage isn’t responsible for issues caused by incorrect database or system changes

 

Prepare the source system

Ensure users exit the system

  • Have all users close the Source Sage 100 Premium system.

Stop services

  • Stop the Sage 100 Application Service on the Source system.

Install the target environment

Install SQL Server instance

  • Install a new SQL Server instance for the target Sage 100 Premium system.

Install Sage 100 Premium

  • Install Sage 100 Premium YYYY on the new SQL instance.

Install updates

  • Install the Product Update package.
  • Install Payroll if you use Payroll and version 2018 or higher.

Configure SQL Server services

Change SQL service account

  • Open Start, Control Panel.
  • Open Administrative Tools, then Services.
  • Right-click SQL Server (InstanceName), then select Properties.
  • Select the Log On tab.
  • Choose Local System account or an Administrator account.
  • Don’t use the default NT Service account during migration.

Apply changes to both environments

  • Repeat these steps for the Source SQL instance.
  • Select OK twice.
  • Restart the SQL Server service.
  • Close the Services console.

Verify user permissions

Ensure the migration user has:
  • SQL Server rights to back up source databases.
  • File access to read and write .bak files to the target SQL Data folder.
  • SQL Server rights to restore databases on the target system.
  • Permissions to delete backup files on both Source and Target systems.
  • Note: Disable UAC in a workgroup environment during the migration process.

Run the Parallel Migration Wizard

Launch the wizard

  • Select Start, All Programs, Sage 100 YYYY, Parallel Migration Wizard.

Configure target settings

  • Select Sage 100 Premium ERP.
  • Confirm the firewall allows access to port 1433.
  • Enter the SQL Server instance for the target system.
  • Select SQL Server authentication.
  • Enter the SA credentials.
  • Select Next.

Enter target installation details

  • Enter the target installation password.
  • Select Next.

Configure source settings

  • Enter the MAS90 folder path for the Source installation.
  • Select Next.
  • Enter the SQL Server instance for the Source system.
  • Select SQL Server authentication.
  • Enter the SA credentials.
  • Select Next.

Provide source credentials

  • Enter the Source installation password.
  • Select Next twice.

Select migration options

  • Choose whether to migrate existing companies.
  • Select Next.
  • Select the companies to migrate.
  • Select Next.

Start migration

  • Select Next to begin the migration process.
