Installing new Sage 100 Premium Installation to new SQL Instance

  1. Have users exit the Source installation of Sage 100 Premium
  2. Stop Sage 100 Application Service for the Source installation
  3. Install a new SQL Instance for the New (Target) Sage 100 Installation
  4. Install Sage 100 Premium YYYY (YYYY= version\four-digit year) to new SQL Instance
  5. Install Product Update and Payroll (if you own Payroll and installing Sage 100 Premium 2018 or higher)
  6. Change the account running SQL Server service for new installation to LOCAL SYSTEM
    1. Open Start, Control Panel
    2. Open Administrative Tools
    3. Open Services
    4. Right-click 'SQL Server (InstanceName)' and select Properties
    5. Note: InstanceName = name of the new Sage 100 installation SQL Instance)
    6. Select 'Log On' tab
    7. Select 'Local System account' radio button and or use an 'Administrator' account. Do not use default NT Service account during migration
    8. Repeat prior step for both SQL Server current production instance and the new instance
    9. Select OK twice
    10. Restart 'SQL Server (InstanceName)' service
    11. Exit Windows Services console
  7. Verify the user who runs the Migration has the following permissions:
    1. SQL Server rights to backup the source SQL databases
    2. Operating system and network rights to read and write the source SQL server .bak files into the target SQL Server "Data" folder
      (i.e. C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL_11.SQL_INSTANCENAME\MSSQL\DATA\)
    3. SQL Server rights to restore the .bak (backup) files from the source into the target Sage 100 SQL Server
    4. Operating system and network rights on the source and target Sage 100 ERP Premium systems to delete the .bak files created in Step 1 and 2
      NOTE: In a workgroup (non-domain-network) environment; UAC must be disabled during the Premium to Premium Parallel Migration proces

Run Parallel Migration Uitlity

  1. Select Start, All Programs, Sage 100 YYYY, Parallel Migration Wizard
  2. Select ‘Sage 100 Premium ERP’ and check ‘Above step is complete’ to confirm the Firewall is configured to allow access to port 1433
  3. Select or Enter SQL Server Instance of Sage 100 YYYY installation
  4. Select ‘SQL Server authentication using the login and password below
  5. Enter ‘SA’ logon credentials
  6. Select Next
  7. Enter New/Target Installation Password
  8. Select Next
  9. Enter Path to the MAS90 folder of the Source installation
  10. Select Next
  11. Select or Enter SQL Server Instance of Source installation
  12. Select ‘SQL Server authentication using the login and password below
  13. Enter ‘SA’ logon credentials
  14. Select Next
  15. Enter Source Installation Password
  16. Select Next twice
  17. Choose from option to migrate existing companies or not
  18. Select Next
  19. Select companies to migrate and select Next
  20. Select Next to start Migration
