Minimum requirements

Standalone workstation

  • Processor: 64-bit processor with at least 1 GHz and 2 cores. Sage BusinessWorks runs only on Intel and AMD CPUs
  • Memory (RAM): 4 GB
  • Storage: 2 GB free disk space for installation. Ensure at least 25% of the computer's hard disk space is available after installation
    • Installation must be on a local drive. You must not store data on OneDrive, SharePoint, or any other cloud-based platform
  • Network: Ethernet, ≥ 1 Gbps full duplex. Running Sage BusinessWorks over a wireless (WiFi) connection isn't supported
  • Operating System: Windows 10 Home*, Professional, or Enterprise, 64-bit. Windows 11 Home*, Professional, or Enterprise, 64-bit
    * Sage BusinessWorks supports the Home edition as a standalone install or as a client in a peer-to-peer environment
  • Database Engine: Actian Zen 15 SP1
  • Monitor: 1024 x 768 or higher resolution
  • Internet: Required for product downloads, payroll tax reporting, credit card processing, and authenticating maintenance updates
  • Microsoft Office: Local install of 32-bit Microsoft Office or Microsoft Office 365 (current version)
  • Printer: Laser or high-speed ink jet printer
    • Multi-purpose printers: The program doesn't support high-end multi-purpose copy/printers. Support can't assist you with troubleshooting any issues related to multi-purpose printers

  • To verify compatibility with products that integrate with Sage BusinessWorks, consult that product's software manufacturer
  • Your system must meet the system requirements for both Sage BusinessWorks and the third-party product
  • SAP Crystal Reports: Crystal Reports 2020. Crystal Reports 2020 requires a 64-bit DSN connection with is only available with Sage BusinessWorks 2023 or higher

  • Sage Timeslips: The current desktop version of Sage Timeslips supports the current version of Sage BusinessWorks
  • Antivirus software/Firewall: Sage BusinessWorks is a web-enabled program
    • Configure your antivirus software to exclude Sage BusinessWorks files with MKD and DDF file extensions
    • Configure your firewall to allow inbound and outbound connections through ports 1583 and 3351
