Using Sage 50 — U.S. Edition in a network environment requires a properly set up network.  Sage 50 requires a successful ping between both the server and the network using the computer names.  To verify a successful ping, follow these steps:

  1. Obtain the computer names of the server and the workstation. See How can I find the name of my computer?
  2. Obtain the IPv4 address of both the server and the workstation. See How can I find the Internet Protocol (IP) address of my computer?
  3. At the server, click Window + R to bring up the run command.
  4. Type CMD, then click OK.  This will bring up a DOS window.
  5. Type ping [workstation name], then press Enter.
  6. If the ping is successful, it will return a Reply from [workstation IPv4 address] four times.  If the ping is unsuccessful, it will time out or will return an incorrect IPv4 or IPv6 address.  If this happens, contact your network administrator for assistance.
