When you install Sage Fixed Assets Premier server components, the Database Utility creates the Winfas and Winfasguest accounts during database creation.

Winfas account

• The program uses this account to access and modify Sage Fixed Assets databases.
• The account uses a hidden encrypted password.
• You can’t change the password directly through SQL Server.
• See Sage Fixed Assets Premier Configuration Utility for information about updating the Winfas password.

Winfasguest account

• The account provides read-only access to Sage Fixed Assets data.
• Report Writer uses this account when generating custom Crystal reports.
• The account uses a blank password to meet SAP Crystal Reports requirements.
• Sage Fixed Assets standard reports don’t require this account.
• A database administrator can disable the account when you don't need Crystal custom reporting.
• Enable the account again after an update.
• Sage Fixed Assets version 2021.0 supports trusted connections with Windows user accounts instead of Winfasguest.

Database permissions

• Neither account receives SQL Server roles.
• Neither account receives access to non-Fixed Assets databases on the same SQL Server.
• Winfas requires DB_Owner permissions on all databases including the Bestsys database.
• Winfasguest requires DB_Reader permissions for asset databases. It doesn't need permissions for the Bestsys database.
