After the Sage Fixed Assets Premier server components are installed, the first time the Database Utility is launched and accesses the SQL server the Winfas and Winfasguest accounts are created by the database utility during the database creation process.

  • The Winfas account is the primary account used by the program to access and make changes to the Sage Fixed Assets databases on the SQL server. This account has a hidden encrypted password and can’t be changed through the SQL server. See Sage Fixed Assets Premier Configuration Utility for information on editing the Winfas password
  • The Winfasguest account is a read-only account that is used by the Report Writer program to access data when generating custom reports in Crystal. This account has a blank password based on requirements from the vendor SAP ® Crystal Reports. The account isn’t required for reports available within Sage Fixed Assets and can be disabled by the DBA if the ability to create and run custom reports in Crystal isn’t needed, but will need to be enabled on update. With the Sage Fixed Assets version 2021.0 release, it’s now possible to disable the WinfasGuest user and set up a Trusted connection using the Window users accounts. See How to set up a trusted user of Crystal Reports for more information.

Both accounts are created with rights to ONLY the Sage Fixed Assets databases with no SQL server roles. These accounts are not created with rights to any non-fixed assets databases that may also be on the same SQL server
