How to add, remove, or maintain Tasks, Programs, or files as shortcuts for the Custom Buttons toolbar on the Sage 100 Launcher
Description

Note: Custom Toolbar settings are unique to each Sage 100 User Logon and workstation.

For Classic desktop: (pre-Sage 100 2016 desktop look):

Custom button settings are saved to a MNUCBTN.TXT file.

  • For Standard edition installations of Sage 100:
    • "..\MAS90\Launcher\\" at the Sage 100 server
      • Note: This means someone who logs into Sage 100 from another workstation may see the same buttons if they used both the same Sage 100 User Logon and Windows Login account.
  • For Advanced or Premium installations of Sage 100:
    • "..\MAS90\Launcher\\" on the local workstation
      • Note: This means someone who logs into Sage 100 from another workstation will not see the same buttons, even if they used both the same Sage 100 User Logon and Windows Login account.

To add Sage CRM shortcut (to open in Web Browser):

  1. Create a new shortcut on the desktop to Sage CRM using the web address (right-click on the desktop and choose New Shortctut, enter the CRM web address, name the shortcut CRM, and select OK).
  2. Copy this shortcut file to the local workstation machine to another location (desktop shortcuts do not all show in the files list).
  3. For Sage 100 Classic Desktop:
    1. choose View, Toolbars, Customize.
    2. Select the Custom Buttons tab
    3. Select New Program
    4. Change Files of Type, from Programs to All Files and browse to the location where the CRM shortcut was saved that you created above
    5. Select Open, then Apply and Ok on the Custom Buttons list
    6. The new custom button has been created and will appear on the tool bar (if custom buttons check box is selected for toolbar)
  • OR, to add a new Favorite to the Sage 100 Standard desktop (available in Sage 100 Standard, Advanced, or Premium versions 2016 and later):

  1. Right-click in the Favorites area and choose Insert Shortcut, then browse to the Sage CRM shortcut that you created above, enter a title and select OK.

Cause
Resolution

From the Sage 100 Business Desktop:

To display or hide the Custom Buttons toolbar:

  1. Click View menu
  2. Select Toolbars
  3. Click the Custom Buttons setting to toggle between display options
    • If a check mark appears to the left of Custom Buttons, that toolbar will display
    • If no check mark appears to the left of Custom Buttons, that toolbar will not display

To add, remove, or maintain custom buttons:

  1. Access the Customize window for Custom Buttons (there are a couple of ways):
    • Click View menu, Toolbars, Customize...
    • Right-click on an area of the Custom Buttons toolbar
  2. Access the Custom Buttons tab
    • Click New Task to browse for and select a specific application module and menu task, then click Open
    • Click New Program... to browse for and select a specific program executable file
      • Note: Command line arguments (flags or switches) cannot be added to programs for Custom Buttons
    • To add a new file instead of a program, follow the instructions for New Program, but change Files of Type, from Programs to All Files
      • Note: This works so long as the file selected has a file extension associated with a program installed on the workstation that will open it.
    • Maintenance options are available once an existing custom button option is selected (highlighted):
      • Click Rename to rename a custom button option
      • Click Delete to delete a custom button option
      • Click Move Up or Move Down to determine the order or position of each custom button option relative to other options
    • Note: Button icon images cannot be changed.
  3. Click Apply to save changes
  4. Click OK to save and exit

NOTE: See addtional information regarding adding a new shortcut to launch Sage CRM in a web browser (Sage 100 has a Launch CRM button on task bar - see Related Resources regarding issues with this button in later CRM versions).
