When should I use Force File Upgrades?
Description
Cause
Resolution
[BCB:1:Backup warning:ECB]

When Force file upgrades is not selected, Upgrade files will only upgrade files that have version dictionary changes and skip the files that do not need upgrading. Not every version upgrade contains changes for every file, therefore, by not marking the box, the Upgrade files process will finish more quickly.

If Force file upgrades is selected for a version upgrade, it will process every file selected to upgrade whether the file needs upgrading or not, making the process take longer.

Force file upgrades generally only needs to be selected after adding custom fields on a file that is already upgraded to the current version.

Note: If database issues already exist in the data files, Upgrade files may detect these issues and return errors on the journal. It is important that the Upgrade files journal be reviewed for errors.
