How to convert databases
Description

These messages display when you haven't converted the data to the latest schema.

  • Database Conversion Required
  • There are modifications that need to be made to the <database name> database before it can be used with this version of Sage Fixed Assets. Please contact your system administrator to upgrade your database

Resolution

 

Important information:

  • Databases will only convert one schema at a time. You may need to install intermediate versions and convert when performing an update. See Database conversion status: Incompatible Version for more information
  • You don't need to convert any databases with the status "Conversion Complete". They’re up to date and don’t require conversion to use on the currently installed version of Sage Fixed Assets
  • Perform all conversions on the server
  • For 2025.1, you must perform all Sage Fixed Assets Planning conversions through the utility
  • Before performing an update, back up existing companies from a client. See How to back up a company

Network and Premier:

  1. On the desktop on the server where you installed Sage Fixed Assets:
    • For Depreciation and Tracking: Right-click the Database Utility - Network or Premier Depreciation & Tracking. Select Run as administrator.
    • For Planning (CIP): Right-click the Database Utility - Network or Premier Depreciation & Tracking. Select Run as administrator.
  2. Click Convert.
  3. Click Next, click Next, click Select All to select databases with a Conversion Status of Ready to Convert.
  4. Click Next, then Convert.
  5. Once the conversion completes, click Close.
  6. An Internet browser window opens that shows databases converted and their status. This will use the Windows default .htm file reader.

For Single User and Lite Editions:

  1. Go to Start, Programs, Sage Fixed Assets, and click Conversion Utility.
    Note: The conversion utility will launch automatically when opening an unconverted database.
  2. Click Next, click Next, click Select All to select databases with a Conversion Status of Ready to Convert.
  3. Click Next, then Convert.
  4. Once the conversion completes, click Close.
  5. An Internet browser window opens that shows databases converted and their status. This will use the Windows default .htm file reader.
