How to apply a debit memo to an invoice in Accounts Receivable
Description
Cause

This step is necessary if the Apply To invoice field was not used when the debit memo was created.

Resolution
  1. Open Accounts Receivable, Main, Cash Receipts Entry
  2. Select, Customer Number
  3. Enter, Check Number (APPLY or something similar)
  4. Leave Amount Received as 0.00
  5. Click, Lines tab
  6. Select both the debit memo and invoice to apply it to
  7. On the debit memo line, Amount Posted should be entered as a POSITIVE
  8. On the invoice line, Amount Posted should be entered as a NEGATIVE
  9. Note the Balance column should show the new balance for both records after updating
  10. Print/Update the Cash Receipts Journal
